Biographical Information
Dr. Weinstein graduated from Antioch College in Ohio, and went on to medical school at the State University of New York in Brooklyn NY where she was a member of the Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1971. Her psychiatric residency training was at Montefiore Hospital -Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx NY, where she was Chief Resident.
From 1981 through 1988 she worked on the Forensic Psychiatric Unit at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, New York; she supervised medical students and residents as a faculty member of the New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Weinstein then went on to become the Medical Director of the Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital in New Jersey for ten years. This was an 800 bed State Psychiatric facility which was downsized and closed in 1998. She later moved to West Virginia where she was an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV and the Medical Director of the Mildred Mitchell Bateman Psychiatric Hospital.
She moved on to be the Medical Director of the Arizona State Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and then to California where she became the Medical Director of the Coalinga State Hospital. Later she moved to the Central Coast where she was the Chief of Staff at the Salinas Valley State Prison, from which she retired in 2013 to start her private practice.
Dr. Weinstein had a private practice in general adult and forensic psychiatry in both New York and New Jersey from 1976 through 2000. She has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 1978 with Board Certification in Forensic Psychiatry from 1999 – 2009. She also received an MBA in 1996.
Dr. Weinstein’s work has been guided by the hope that as a physician, she relieves suffering and helps each person find the most happiness and fulfillment possible. She strives to have kindness and compassion, intellectual honesty and a sense of humor.
